Munshi Abdur Rauf (1943 - April 20, 1971) was a martyred freedom fighter who participated in the war of independence of Bangladesh. He was awarded the title of Bir Shrestha for his outstanding heroism in the war. Brief Biography

Munshi Abdur Rauf was born in May 1943 in Salamatpur village of Madhukhali upazila (formerly Boalmari upazila) of Faridpur district. His father's name was Munshi Mehedi Hossain and his mother's name was Makidunnesa. Rauf's father died when he was a teenager. As a result, he was deprived of the opportunity to pursue higher education. He studied up to eighth grade. May 8, 1983
Enlisted in Pakistan Rifles. His registration number is 1317. At the beginning of the War of Independence on March 25, 1971, he was working in Wing No. 11 in Chittagong. At that time he joined the war of independence with the East Bengal Regiment
On 8 April, two companies of the Pakistan Army Commando Battalion, along with a company of the 7th East Bengal Regiment, took up position at Burighat to block the Rangamati-Mahalchhari waterway in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. They came in front of the defensive front and started firing indiscriminately with 3 "mortars and other heavy weapons. The intensity of the shelling forced the defense forces to retreat.
But Lansnayek Munshi Abdur Rauf refused to back down. He started firing machine guns from his trench. This counter-attack with a machine gun sank the enemy's speed boats. Its occupants are casualties. The two rear launches quickly retreated and took up positions at a safe distance. Starting from there, heavy shelling from a distance. Heavy mortar shells were fired at Abdur Rauf.
He fell down, his machine gun became silent. By then, his comrades were able to move to a safe distance. For his immense heroism, bravery and patriotism, the Government of Bangladesh awarded him the highest honor, the title of Bir Shrestha. Shahid Mofiz, Dumain, (heroic freedom fighter)
